Today’s goal is to collect my resupply box of food, shower, do laundry and have a nice lunch in Mazama Village, a campground a few miles from Crater Lake Rim.
It was great to get clean and eat a burger! I had hoped to camp here but they closed the PCT spots due to concerns over deadfall (dead limbs falling from live or dead trees).
Instead, I hiked up to the rim for some awesome views
There is no camping allowed within a mile of the rim trail so I hiked down a trail and set up camp in a remote area.
I did capture one new flower image
Almost every one of my trips has a “low day” – a day where you debate the pros and cons of quitting. Even with the beautiful Rim views, I think I was feeling pain (3 blisters so far), a little loneliness and a bit of unwelcomeness (surliness) from the Crater Lakes Staff.
(I got over this after a good nights sleep)
Thanks for reading!
Beautiful vistas!! A worthy reward for dealing with surly mosquitoes and unpleasant Homo sapiens. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us armchair hikers/bikers!
